For some reason I felt compelled to blog right now. I'm not sure why, but as I am sitting in my living area of my apartment, watching my roommate cook some delicious food, and listening to a new playlist I just made (called 'Rice') I clicked on blogspot and opened a new post.
Maybe it was the song playing. The Lovers are Losing by my personal favorite band ever, Keane. Every time I hear this song, I fall in love with it all over again. The best part is the chorus and it is as follows:
"You take the pieces of the dreams that you have
Cos you don't like the way they seem to be going
You cut them up and spread them out on the floor
You're full of hope as you begin rearranging
Put it all back together
But any way you look at this
Looks like
The lovers are losing"
The idea of taking all of your dreams and sitting on the floor, cutting them out, spreading them around, and rearranging them is pretty cool. I'm not sure why I love this song so much, or the chorus more specifically, but it is just amazing. And the idea that "the lovers are losing" is bittersweet. To me, this makes me think of how desensitized the world is becoming and how much has changes in romance over the past 100 years. The power of love is so great and we should all try to pass it on as many times as we can. Wether its simply telling your mom you love her, giving dinner to a homeless family, or donating money to charity, any little bit of love counts.
Keane is such an amazing band, and I know I have said this more times than I am willing to count, but it's true. If you haven't been graced by their music, I recommend you go listen to them or watch their videos on youtube.
Have a brilliant rest of the week, friends.
Holly
