I appreciate you taking the time to check out what I'm up to and where I'm going on this crazy journey called LIFE! Lent

This past Wednesday was Ash Wednesday. For those of you who don't know exactly what that means, it is the start of Lent. Lent is the time of year where some Christians (me being included as a United Methodist) give up something for 40 days until Easter to somewhat relate to the 40 fast in the wilderness Jesus participated in. Some give up candy, drinks, junk foods, or even things such as facebook or tv. This year I really wanted to put myself to the test. I have decided to go vegan for the next 40 days. Vegans are a lot different than vegetarians, they don't consume ANY animal by-products. So no milk, eggs, meat, and some even go as far as no honey. It's a high goal to set, and I know I will mess up a few times here and there, but putting my all into it will be enough. We can all be ordinary and give up something "easy" or we can really put ourselves to the challenge, just like Jesus did, and become extraordinary.

Good luck on your Lent :)

  2. One person's easy is another person's hard. But whatever we give up may we remember why we are doing it. This year I am giving the money I save by giving up something to a UMC radio station in Cote d'Ivoire. www.amplifyhope.org Get Involved
